The academic year in IEE consists of two semesters. After each semester students pass tests and exams according to the studying plan. Students have vacations twice a year, including winter vacations- about 2 weeks long, and summer vacations — about 2 months. The academic plan consists of different courses, in accordance with the federal standard, Bachelor students study 36 hours per week and Master students have 14-16 hours per week. Every working day Bachelor students have from 2 to 4 classes, and Master students have 2 classes according to the schedule. One class is 2 academic hours, 45 minutes each. The study schedule is worked out by the schedule department and represented on the official site of the IEE in the beginning of the semester. According to the schedule studying weeks are divided into lower and upper and can have different schedules. All changes in the timetables are represented on-line. All students are divided into academic groups. They can participate in different faculty activities. Every student has its own Student card and Record book, issued by the Studying department at the beginning of the first academic year. The Student card is the main document for entering all University buildings, receiving books in the university library etc. Results of all tests and exams are indicated in the  Record book. These documents should be prorogated at the beginning of each academic year. The signature of the deputy director for Studying activities and stamp should be in the Record book and in the Student card.
