text (english) Aesthetics, trustworthisness and convienience are the impressions exerting the highest influence on the overall elder user satisfaction of the website. *** We observed that elder users are significantly distinct from younger users in assessing the emotional aspects of e-business web sites (Table 3). The factor analysis (Figure 4) indicated that although elderly and non-elderly were similar in regarding the factors of trust and convenience as closely related ones, they differed in the perception of such emotional aspect as pleasure. For the elder users this facet was associated with aesthetics and, to some extent, with orderly design, while for the non-elderly the factor of pleasure constituted a wholly different component. These findings are consistent with “classic” and “expressive” aesthetic dimensions in emotional perception reported by Lavie and Tractinsky (2004). The regression models (3) and (4) that draw a connection between the participants’ emotional perceptions and their overall impression of e-business web sites, agreed on the significance of aesthetics and trustworthiness for both user groups, the seniors and the non-elderly. These findings are consistent with Robins and Holmes (2007), who emphasized the crucial importance of credibility impression for e-business web sites, and the connection between aesthetic treatment and credibility judgement. However, it was also detected that the difference existed in predicting the overall impressions depending on the age. The seniors’ overall impression (3) was influenced by convenience, while the non-elderly (4) were affected by pleasure. The importance of the convenience factor would likely even escalate if the participants had a chance to actually interact with the e-business web sites used in the experiment. This once again attests the importance of usability in human-computer interaction and its effect on users’ overall impression and satisfaction with a software system.
