text (english) The results of regression analysis of aesthetic impressions of elder and non-elder subjects and the evaluations of professional web designers suggest that the factors that are related to “expressive” aesthetic dimension, such as original, sophisticated, fascinating, creative, and using special effects actually had negative influence on aesthetic impressions of the seniors, of both Korean (1) and Russian (2) nationality. For the aesthetics evaluations of non-elderly participants, the above “expressive” aesthetics factors had no observed significant effect, as the regression equations show (3, 4). The Korean non-elder subjects were the group of participants with the most experience in Internet and e-commerce usage (Table 1 and Table 2), but even for them the “expressive” design is not much appreciated in e-business web sites. Considering that for elder users the “expressive” design component has significantly marked negative effect on overall aesthetic impression, web designers are recommended to avoid using such techniques when developing e-business web sites, and rather keep to the factors of “classic” aesthetics, such as clean, clear, pleasant, symmetrical, and aesthetic.
